Bholu Crib Sheet Set, Natural Cream

We don't really go in for nursery rhymes of breaking boughs and falling cradles, but rather like to envision babes nesting in the warmth of mama bird as she sweetly sings them into tweet dreams.

A word to the adults:

Bholu products are the work of Australian designer Jodie Fried and brought to life by traditional Gujarati women artisans from the remote desert communities of the Rann of Kachchh (or Kutch), Western Gujarat, India. 'Bholu' is a Kaachcchi term of endearment for a small child. Each piece is hand embroidered using traditional techniques, giving each product its own unique and original personality. We love Bholu’s philosophy of creating products that we love and live with, while benefiting people they work with along the way. By using their traditional skills, the women artisans gain an income, hence independence and opportunity.

This children's range is particularly special as the designs all come from drawings from children between the ages of 3 and 7 who all come from underprivileged slum communities. Bholu conducts workshops in these communities giving kids a time to draw and create instead of work. Bholu is proudly a Fair Trade company with a portion of proceed going back to the artisans and their communities along with funding education facilities for underprivileged children. We encourage you to visit the Bholuland Blog and learn more about this amazing company including the anganwadis (children's schools) they are in the midst of building.
