We’re thinking that our next vacation might entail a trip to artist Wendi Gratz’ Shiny Happy World. A veteran of the children’s book industry, Wendi populates her planet with classic handmade rag dolls that look as though they’ve leapt off the pages of your favorite illustrated story. From her home base in the mountains of North Carolina, she lovingly constructs each doll using repurposed fabrics, including a selection vintage materials, trims and buttons inherited from two grandmothers.

Grace features a hand embroidered happy face, wool felt hair with machine sewn details, articulated legs that allow her to sit quite nicely, a buttoned blouse and removable skirt. Arrives with a hand stamped tag featuring the doll's name.
