Sock Elves

We're pleased to announce our new partnership with the Arctic Intercultural Association (AIA), a well established North Pole based organization that places foreign exchange elves in loving host homes worldwide. These elves are know for their exceedingly jolly dispositions and the AIA has had tremendous success in matching them with individuals and families needing a healthy dose of good cheer. We invite you to join in our efforts by sponsoring the placement of an elf with someone you love.

A word to the adults:

Chances are that if your grandma celebrates Christmas, she has a couple knee-hugger elves packed away with the holiday decorations. They were wildly popular in the 1950s and 60s when you could find them perched on mantles and dangling from tinsel trees. These vintage variety were largely made in Japan, had molded plastic heads (ranging from cute to kind of creepy) and featured a felt body with arms wrapped around long legs, hugging them to his chest. It was these knee-hugger elves combined with a love of old-school sock toys that inspired our Robert Mahar to design a cuter, larger scale, kid friendly version.

Starting with cotton blend knee-high socks made right here in Los Angeles, these long-limbed friends are entirely handmade and stuffed with hypo-allergenic polyester stuffing. They measure approximately 20" from head to toe and feature wool felt collars and removable long stocking caps with pom poms attached. Their smiles literally stretch from ear to ear beneath their securely sewn glass bead eyes (making them most appropriate for children over the age of three.) And because they are happily handmade they will vary slightly from elf to elf.
