Break out the sock puppets and gather center stage! Hang our new fabric theater in an open doorway and you’re ready for athletic sock Swan Lake or perhaps some knee high Shakespeare. Bravo!
A word to the adults:
We’re head over heels for our versatile new Countryside Puppet Theater. Measuring a whopping 63" high by 33 1/2" wide it's large enough to fill an open doorway and completely hide the puppeteers while they stage plays in the 16" x 13" window. Completely hand crafted, this cotton fabric panel depicts a peaceful countryside, complete with a smiling appliquéd sun, bright blue sky, snow capped mountains and a small village nestled among haystacks. Hang this flat fabric panel using the two top loops or purchase inexpensive tension rods and use the pole pockets sewn across the theater back. And storage is never an issue – simply fold and store in a drawer or on a shelf.
Hillary Sciarillo started the Yellow Label Kids collection after leaving a corporate job in New York City for San Francisco, to become a full-time mother and part-time teacher. Inspired by her son and many students she began to look for an alternative to mass produced, commercial toys and clothing. She was fortunate to connect with a collective of women artisans in Nepal, mostly mothers themselves, who earn real living wages from the handcrafts they produce which include our Puppet Theater.
This collective is overseen by a non-profit Fair Trade organization whose primary goal is to support health and education programs for these women and their families. In addition to facilitating the means for these artisans to earn a sustainable living they are also provided literacy training, free healthcare, childbirth education, and for many the opportunity to work from home. Yellow Label Kids is a proud member of the
Fair Trade Federation.
